Surgical Therapeutic Techniques
Advanced and Effective Surgical Solutions
When non-surgical therapies aren’t effective for severe cases of pelvic and urinary health conditions, it may be time to consider surgical options. The Gabrielson Clinic for Women offers consultations and a variety of surgical procedures to treat pelvic health conditions effectively to get back to a normal and comfortable life.
Advanced Pelvic Reconstructive Surgical Options
Pelvic organ prolapse is a common pelvic health concern for women as they age and can cause other pelvic health concerns, including incontinence, bowel issues, intercourse pain, and urinary conditions. Pelvic organ prolapse is when one or more pelvic organs sag or droop, because of strain on the pelvic floor muscles and tissues, causing organs to not function properly. Women may suffer from one or more prolapsed pelvic organs. Common causes include pregnancy, labor, childbirth, obesity, and other activities that put abdominal pressure on the pelvic floor muscles and tissues.
Providers Dr. Dan Gabrielson and Dr. Costas Apostolis specialize in pelvic reconstructive surgery and offer minimally invasive procedures to treat pelvic floor prolapse and other pelvic health conditions.
Reconstructive surgeries performed include:
- Axis and Suspend Biologics Grafts
- Laparoscopic Sacral Colpopexy with Restorelle Y Mesh
- Restorelle Direct Fix
- Restorelle Y Mesh
Incontinence Surgical Options
We offer a variety of treatment solutions and procedures to effectively eliminate incontinence to get you back to your everyday activities worry-free.
Botox® injections can be used to treat both overactive bladder and urinary incontinence. Botox® is prescribed medicine that is injected into the bladder to reduce or eliminate leaking or the urge to urinate frequently.
CoaptiteTM injectable implants are an effective and permanent solution. This small implant is injected into the urethra wall where the material bulks up the urethral tissue to eliminate leaking from overactive bladder or incontinence.
InterStim® therapy is an effective, minimally invasive surgical solution for overactive bladder syndrome and urge incontinence. InterStim is a neurostimulator device that sends signals to the sacral nerve that helps control normal bladder function.
If medications and non-surgical therapies have proven ineffective, InterStim may be considered to alleviate, reduce, or treat symptoms.
Urethral Sling Procedures
A urethral sling is an effective procedure for urinary incontinence. Slings provide support of the urethra to eliminate leaking. Different mesh slings are placed in different anchor points in the pelvic area, depending on where the need for support is. We offer the following urethral slings.
- Altis Transobturator Sling
- ObtryxTM Transobturator Sling
- Solyx™ Single-Incision Sling
- Supris Retropublic Sling
- Transvaginal Tape Procedure
