OB Navigator

As partners, Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics and The Gabrielson Clinic for Women are dedicated to providing personalized care to our OB patients.  With that goal in mind, our OB Navigator will work with patients to provide care coordination, guidance, education, and advocacy across the spectrum of your healthcare needs.

Our OB Navigator, Jennifer Mewes, RN, is a trained and experienced obstetrical nurse who can assist and support you throughout your pregnancy and after the delivery of your baby. She will connect you to hospital resources and various community resources for a positive prenatal outcome, with the goal of a healthy mother and baby.

Our OB Navigator also helps with:

• obtaining your patient history information.
• providing the financial estimate process prior to a new OB appointment.
• signing you up for childbirth and breastfeeding classes.
• connecting you with a lactation consultant for breastfeeding assistance.
• completing the pre-registration for the hospital stay and discussing plans for delivery.
• scheduling inductions and c-sections if necessary, and providing education on the process.
• answering questions about the hospital stay, including what to pack, available services, hospital policies and procedures, and more.
• connecting you with a lactation consultant for breastfeeding assistance.
• having a personal contact available for questions about the hospital and delivery process.
