Hysterectomy
The Gabrielson Clinic for Women offers minimally invasive hysterectomy procedures. A hysterectomy is the removal of all or part of a woman’s uterus or reproductive organs. The reason for removal is usually medical-related for conditions such as endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, uterine prolapse, abnormal bleeding, cancer and others.
We offer the following types of hysterectomies:
Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy
Laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy is a procedure in which the doctor uses a laparoscope and instruments to remove the uterus and ovaries through the vagina.
Total Vaginal Hysterectomy
This surgical procedure removes the uterus, ovaries, cervix, and fallopian tubes through the vagina.
Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy
This laparoscopic procedure includes the removal of the uterus, but the cervix is left in place. Many times the fallopian tubes and ovaries are also removed.
Total Abdominal Supracervical Hysterectomy
Some women may not be able to undergo a laparoscopic procedure. In these cases, we offer a total abdominal supracervical procedure which requires a small incision in the lower abdomen. The uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes are removed and the cervix is left in place.
