Staying Heart Healthy

February is Heart Health Awareness Month, and it’s a great chance to learn some practical tips that can contribute to a heart-healthy lifestyle.

Know Your Numbers:

Understanding your heart health starts with several key indicators; blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar. These numbers provide valuable insights into your cardiovascular health and help healthcare professionals provide you with personalized guidance on maintaining and improving your heart health.

Regular screenings ensure you can make informed decisions, helping to prevent heart disease and other heart-related complications.

Embrace Heart-Healthy Eating:

A balanced diet is an important part of heart health. Incorporate a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins into your diet, as well as heart-healthy fats, such as those found in avocados and olive oil. Small, sustainable changes in your eating habits can make a significant impact on your heart health.

Stay Active:

No matter what physical activities you prefer, moderate-intensity exercise is great for your heart. Aim for around 150 minutes of exercise each week, or 30 minutes a day. If you’re looking for activities to try, check out this Gabrielson Clinic blog we wrote recently!
